Will Mortgage Rates Drop In 2023?

Mortgage rates continue to rise in August as the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage reached its highest level since 2001 this week. For the week ending August 31, the average 30-year fixed-rate mortgage dipped to 7.18%, down 5 basis points from the week’s previous rate of 7.23%, according to Freddie Mac. A basis point is one-hundredth of one percentage point.
